WHAT'S A SERIOUS GAME?

Great question! Serious games are games with a purpose beyond just being fun - like a game where you also happen to be learning about global issues, history and politics as you play!

WHAT WILL WE DO?

  • You'll design the story, characters, challenges, goals and game mechanics for your own serious game.
  • You'll learn about the game design industry.
  • Play & build test-games using Gamestar Mechanic

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Squads who participate in these workshops will have EXCLUSIVE access to Mouse's soon-to-be-released Serious Games Specialist Certification system (which will work just like the Garage Robotics Certification). We are looking for intrepid squads to test it out and let us know how it goes! As you work on the curriculum activities at your school, you will attend three hands-on workshops facilitated by Mouse partner, Global Kids!

Any squad working on Garage Robotics is eligible to present their final project at the 3rd annual Emoti-Con Youth Media & Technology Festival at the New School on Saturday June 4th!

OK! WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO TO SIGN UP?

  • Squads must be able to work on the Serious Games Specialist Curriculum at their school between each workshop.
  • Squads must be available to attend each of the 3 workshops at 4PM.
